Army aware of secret plot against Algeria
Moreover, Lieutenant General Ahmed Gaïd Salah, Deputy Minister of National Defence, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army (ANP), said that the Army was aware, "from the beginning of the crisis, of a secret plot was being hatched against Algeria" and had "set an efficient strategy" to counter it.
"I would like first to say that, from the beginning of the crisis, we knew that a secret plot was planned against Algeria and its people. We have disclosed its details in the right moment and we have set up an efficient strategy executed through stages, in line with the Constitution and the Laws of the Republic," he added
"We have countered this dangerous plot which aimed at destroying our country. Based on its historical responsibility, the National Army Supreme Command decided to counter the gang and stop their heinous schemes. We committed to support the people and the State institutions and we have respected our commitment," the Army chief said.
"In addressing the loyal children of this dear country, we had a clear and candid speech, as we learnt from our Glorious Liberation Revolution," stressed Lt General Gaid Salah.
The Army chief added that "all our speeches have been made on the basis of patriotism, and reflected the constant and sincere stance the Army Supreme Command has always expressed and conveyed to the national public opinion."
For him, "the people aligned with their Army as one man. Such a position, marked by communion, solidarity and mutual understanding of what is happening in the country, will remain etched into history.
Thankfully, we managed to preserve all the State institutions and maintained their good functioning. These institutions which have achieved noticeable results in a very short period of time have helped to reassure the people and create a climate of mutual confidence," he concluded.
